Steve Geiger of the Mensch International Foundation and Rabbi Moshe Heyn will join Consul General of Italy, Sergio Strozzi, and Consul General of Israel, Marco Sermoneta, in a special ceremony acknowledging this lesser-known Italian hero.

Giorgio Perlasca (1910-1992) was an Italian businessman. With the collaboration of official diplomats, he acted as the Spanish Consul General to Hungary in 1944, saving more than 5,000 Jews from deportation to Nazi extermination camps in Eastern Europe. In 1989 Perlasca was designated by Israel as a “Righteous among the Nations”.

On this occasion, The Leonardo da Vinci Society, the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco, and the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club will present the film:

Perlasca: The Courage of a just Man (2002)
directed by Alberto Negrin and starring Luca Zingaretti
