A roundtable discussion moderated by Paul Wilner, former editor, SF Chronicle Style section and SF Examiner Magazine, will follow this special screening of the 2019 documentary about Lawrence Ferlinghetti—founder of City Lights Bookstore and Publisher, author, artist, activist, leader in the Beat Generation, and San Francisco’s first Poet Laureate. His most recent novel, Little Boy, was published in 2019, on the eve of his 100th birthday.
Post-screening discussion featuring Jim McKee (composer and sound designer who has spent years recording Ferlinghetti reciting his poetry), Starr Sutherland (film producer, currently working on a documentary about City Lights Bookstore) and Mauro Aprile Zanetti (personal assistant, collaborator, and publicist for Ferlinghetti since 2015, and LDVS Marketing Chair).
The three speakers have been collaborating closely in the last few years with Ferlinghetti on various projects and will speak about his life work and the continuing formation of his legacy on the arts and humanities globally.
The 2019 Leonardo 500 Honorary Award will be offered to Ferlinghetti by the Leonardo da Vinci Society and the ISSNAF
